An evening without watching the clock
Teatro alla Scala stands in the heart of Milan's restricted traffic zone, on a largely pedestrian square where cars cannot wait. A chauffeur turns that into a detail you never notice: the driver drops you as close to the entrance as the traffic rules permit, then waits nearby or returns at the end, at a meeting point you agree before going in. Performances start on time, so we plan the departure around early-evening traffic in the centre. If you want dinner before the opera or a late supper afterwards, keep the car for the whole evening by the hour. On the opening night of 7 December, security is tighter and the streets busier, so book early.

The season opens on Monday 7 December 2026, the feast of Sant'Ambrogio, with Verdi's Otello conducted by Myung-Whun Chung in a new staging by Damiano Michieletto, according to the theatre.
Can the car wait in front of the theatre?
No. Piazza della Scala is largely pedestrian and cars cannot wait in front of the theatre. Your driver drops you as close as permitted and agrees a nearby meeting point for the end of the performance.
Can we combine the opera with dinner?
Yes. With an hourly booking, the same car takes you to dinner before or after the performance and back to your hotel. The minimum hourly booking is four hours.
