Summer Fridays leave early
Forte dei Marmi is about 250 km from Milan, motorway almost to the door. In July and August, though, half of Milan heads to the coast on Friday afternoon and returns on Sunday evening, and the motorways towards Versilia slow to a crawl. We plan departures around those peaks and will tell you honestly when leaving an hour earlier saves an hour on the road. Your driver takes you to the Hotel Principe Forte dei Marmi, the Augustus Hotel & Resort or your villa behind the seafront, and can collect you from the beach club in the evening on an hourly booking. Pietrasanta, with its galleries and marble workshops, is ten minutes away. The V-Class suits families with beach luggage; the S-Class suits a couple. From Malpensa the trip takes about three and a half hours.
